The 191 States Parties and Signatory States to the 1975 Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) will stage their Eighth Review Conference from 7-25 November 2016. This text 1) assesses the progress the BWC has made thus far, to include the attempts to both implement and enhance it, and 2) analyzes the recent assaults on the Convention’s relevancy, which are attributable to the radical technical and scientific advances that are occurring in the life sciences.
