This paper contends that China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has resulted in Chinese firms playing an increasingly visible role in EU transport and infrastructure projects. As the author believes that this trend will continue for the foreseeable future, he argues that the EU must develop a clear plan on how to allow for meaningful and specific engagement with China’s BRI goals.
