This commentary focuses on the legal and security-centered controversies surrounding the use of the OPAL pipeline. Basically, it appears the European Commission’s initial evaluation of the pipeline and its potential impact was incomplete, particularly when it came to the long-term effects additional trade with Russia would have on energy security in Europe.
