This study explores the problems currently plaguing the gas sector in Russia, which include 1) stagnating exports to undiversified markets; 2) the tendency to use gas exports as a political tool; and 3) poor industry growth prospects in Europe. In light of these problems, the text’s author casts a jaundiced eye on the plans and reforms the Russian gas sector has for the future.
