This paper analyzes Moldovan President Dodon’s hostility towards the Association Agreement with the EU – an agreement which has been in force since July 2016 and which grants his country access to the European market. Basically, the pro-Russia Dodon wants to redirect his country towards the east and the Eurasian Economic Union, but the Moldovan economy has largely shifted its trade towards the EU and is now significantly more dependent on the EU than Moscow.
