This paper examines existing multi-stakeholder governance mechanisms that exist in three sectors – cyberspace, telecommunications, and the corporate world. The text’s authors ultimately conclude that 1) governance frameworks within these areas, if they are to be effective, must respect the functional-political contexts they operate in, and 2) scholars of international relations and global governance have much to learn from these frameworks in their own research.
