The 2015-2016 refugee crisis revealed multiple gaps in the EU’s policies and approaches towards migration, asylum seekers and its maritime and land-based borders, especially in the Mediterranean region. In response to these problems, this volume examines the lessons learned from the crisis and gives an up-to-date assessment of the policy, legal and institutional responses that have been put in place by the EU. It also speculates on whether these responses will ultimately work or not.
