This publication analyzes the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea's (DPRK) foreign policy, with a focus on the country's diplomatic relations towards the US, South Korea and China. It argues that North Korea does not intend to decrease the nuclear deterrence on which the Kim regime believes its survival hinges. Instead, Pyongyang will seek to improve its economic situation by attempting to reduce sanctions through denuclearization rhetoric alone.
