The United Kingdom’s arms transfer controls are closely entwined with those of the EU. So what can be done to ensure that the UK still has its full suite of transfer control measures in place on the day it leaves the Union? This paper address this question by 1) reviewing the UK’s implementation of key EU agreements on arms and dual-use transfer controls; 2) predicting how Brexit could affect these measures; and 3) outlining what steps London and Brussels should take to safeguard future cooperation on arms control.
