This paper examines growing concerns among Latin American states regarding the US’ regional policy changes under the Trump administration. Indeed, the author notes that a number of recent moves by Washington have been of particular concern, including the US’ recent withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the expansion of deportation criteria, reductions in foreign aid granted to Latin American countries and reduced engagement with Cuba. The author also highlights how these moves by the US are antagonizing prominent partner countries and undermining Washington’s privileged position in the region.
