This report compiles the presentations, discussions and findings from a conference held in April 2017 on the roots causes of the crises gripping large parts of the MENA region. The sessions focused on 1) “terms and concepts in historical perspective”; 2) “regional order, borders and the frailty of authority”; and 3) the existing roles of international and regional actors.
