In the wake of Indonesia’s new KPK Law, which is designed to combat political corruption within the country, this paper highlights the various institutional obstacles that still stand in the law’s way. Although the text’s author uses George Tsebelis’ theory of veto power to explore how past Indonesian presidents schemed to overcome these hurdles, he ultimately concludes that executive action isn’t enough. Indonesia’s legislative powers must play a role in thwarting corruption.
