This forecast speculates on the most likely targets that the so-called Islamic State (IS) might attack during Ramadan (the inclusive dates this year are June 6 - July 5). The rationale for the attacks could be to 1) exacerbate Iraq’s ongoing political crisis; 2) recapture the initiative in Syria; 3) undermine Turkey’s, Lebanon’s and Jordan’s support of anti-IS efforts; and 4) attract new global affiliates.
