This publication analyzes Israel’s newly adopted nation-state law, which -according to the authors - lays the foundations for a more majoritarian democracy. More specifically, it examines the logic behind and implications of different aspects of the law, including 1) the codification of Israel as a Jewish state, 2) the lack of mention of principles of equality in the law, 3) the promotion of Jewish settlement of the land and exclusion of Arabic as an official language, and more.
