The publication provides insights into the debate on the reduction and misuse of small arms and light weapons by shifting the focus to the demand side. The authors argue that five case studies on Colombia, South Africa, Papa New Guinea and the Solomon Islands and Brazil prove interventions incorporating the demand side of the equation are effective in improving security.
