This paper evaluates Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's legacy for Japanese politics and international policy. The author focuses on LDP party reform, its effect on the main opposition party and Koizumi’s changes to Japan’s international policy. He argues that the prime minister was a political reformer who has changed the nature of Japanese politics.
