This paper examines China's and India’s demand for imported oil, particularly from the Middle East. The authors discuss the energy-demand trends and consider some of the possible longer-term strategic implications associated with these trends. They note a growing reliance on Middle Eastern oil and they predict that China and India will become major players in the Middle East.
