This paper contemplates why the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unresolved. The text’s author specifically points a finger at the leaders of both Armenia and Azerbaijan. Because they’ve led their peoples to expect nothing short of total victory in this standoff, the leaders live in fear that any attempts at compromise or dialogue will come back to haunt them. To help achieve a lasting peace, the author argues that a clear message should be sent to the leaders of both countries – i.e., the international community is there to help deal with the conflict, but it’s your responsibility to create a lasting peace.
