This publication examines the political situation in Russia in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Key contentions include that 1) through constitutional changes, President Vladimir Putin has seemingly secured his position as president for as long as he lives; 2) despite this, the President’s response to the coronavirus pandemic has been an unexpected one in giving the nation’s governors and Moscow’s mayor charge of managing the crisis; 3) since this time, President Putin has all but disappeared from the public eye, complicating the situation further, and more.
