The publication examines the motives behind the US agenda to promote counterproliferation policies, specifically its efforts to combat WMDs. The brief argues that US counterproliferation policies, such as preventive war doctrine and missile defense, have little to do with enforcing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and more to do with enhancing military power.
