This paper examines the economic and political pressures that drive Russia's determination to sell weapons to the Middle East. It addresses the Russian defense sector, the nuclear industry, the energy sector and the economic and political relations between Russia and the Middle East. The author predicts that Russia will pursue lucrative arms and energy sales as long as the political price is not prohibitive, even at the displeasure of the West.
