This study analyzes the challenges facing agricultural producers, politicians and aid programmers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It covers the transition from the agricultural rehabilitation programming supported in the past through the Consolidated Appeals Process, to now preparing for future EU membership and increasing integration into markets steered by the EU Common Agricultural Policy. In doing so, the author seeks to answer the following questions: how to promote agricultural markets; how policymakers and aid agencies can best engage with private sector actors; and what might the roles of various stakeholders be in promoting agricultural markets.
