This report summarizes the proceedings of an April 2008 workshop on the discontent with International Monetary Fund (IMF) policies in Latin America and the Caribbean. It brought together scholars and officials from central banks and governments throughout the region who have been or are involved in relations with the IMF. They highlighted the kind of role the IMF should play in the region. They also discussed possible reforms in the IMF governance structure and the relation between the IMF and regional initiatives in the monetary and financial realm.
