This paper examines the decision of the Indonesian Mujahidin Council (MMI) to accept the resignation of Abu Bakar Bashir, their leader. It responds to arguments that the MMI will be crippled as Bashir could draw away most of its members and assesses whether there will be increased radicalization as a result.
