This paper highlights the necessity of examining gender inequality and gender issues in assessing the progress of the Millennium Development Goals. It outlines specific ways in which issues such as disease, poverty and agriculture have gender-specific dimensions. The paper concludes with recommendations for gender sensitive development objectives.
