Publication

This paper discusses how Islam has made its way into the public arena and the public awareness of European countries. The author argues that this is a result of political determination as well as societal mobilization to shape and frame Turkish society and its future together with that of the EU. The paper claims that creating a common space with European culture becomes a question that calls for an answer that goes beyond the one provided by the framework of integration.
