This analysis deals with the perceived threat among some Sunni Muslim states of a politically resurgent Shi'a influence across the gulf. The author examines the idea in the contexts of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait. The author concludes that the situations in the three countries are very different but nevertheless demonstrate that political activism amongst Shi'a Muslims is not a credible threat.
