This publication discusses the social regulation of global value chains. Specifically, the authors examine what room for maneuver organized labor has for advancing social regulation in different global value chains via Private Social Standards and International Framework Agreements. They argue that the governance structure of these chains both enables and constrains the social regulation of global value chains. The paper's conclusions support a general trend towards buyer-drivenness.
