This report features five articles on the potential impact of 'big data' on security, finance, and law. The topics covered include 1) what conflicting national laws on data gathering mean for law enforcement, intelligence agencies and private companies; 2) how big data can help institutions decrease the risk of malicious human behavior; 3) how digital technology can help identify 'external threats', such fraud, bribery, terrorism and other criminal activities; 4) how big data can help tackle the spread of cybercrime and illicit financial flows; and 5) how to use big data to reduce the threat of financial crime.
