This paper examines the security implications of Turkish integration into the EU. It outlines the main contours of Turkey's strategic importance for the EU, and weighs the pros and cons of permitting its entry. The author argues that although Turkish integration may give rise to new security challenges, its complete exclusion is difficult to justify.
