This paper discusses Russia's position in Central Asia from an Uzbek perspective, and characterizes it as intrusive. The author highlights what is seen in Uzbekistan as Russian subversion of the democratic processes in Central Asia and its manipulation of relationships between states in the region to encourage their dependence on Russia. To help stave off Russia's influence, the author calls for the integration of Central Asian states.
