This report considers the US' military ingress into the Transcaspian region. The author argues that the US presence could be beneficial in bringing about stability and democratization in the region. The author cautions, however, that greater cooperation with international partners is necessary to legitimize the US presence. The author additionally encourages increased coordination with local governments.
