This policy brief analyzes the growing African economic interdependence with China. It documents the size of this expanding economic presence, focusing primarily on trade and finance. The paper also discusses the rate of change and projections of its growth as well as the factors that lie behind these developments. The authors conclude that China appears to be an increasingly substantial engine of growth on the African continent and that although the levels are modest, they are rising rapidly.
