This paper articulates a series of pragmatic, politically viable steps to advance the US nuclear nonproliferation agenda. The authors argue that cooperative nonproliferation programs of the US government have been remarkably successful since the early 1990s, but they have never been used to their full potential to help reduce the WMD threat. They offer recommendations for reform that encompass a range of US government policies, from funding to interagency cooperation, that influence the US nuclear nonproliferation agenda.
