This paper addresses India's regulation of its financial sector, commenting on the relationship between finance and growth. It looks at the development of banking in India, reviews the scientific discussion about the link between the financial and the real sectors of the economy and points to the dilemma of regulation. Subsequently, the paper turns to monetary-fiscal coordination. The author states that the financial markets in India display the same flux as financial markets anywhere.
