This paper discusses the trends in social self-organization in Russia. Specifically, it considers the nature of grassroots social movements in Russia and explains the main motivations of Russian self-organization movements. The authors find a significant change in the mentality of parts of Russia's society as a consequence of the improvement in living standards and financial stability.
