This paper examines the foreign policy of the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The author discusses the economic basis of Singh’s foreign policy initiatives, with a focus on his ideas of 'inclusive globalisation,' 'asymmetric liberalisation' and the geopolitical implications of India's integration into the global economy. He argues that the continued relevance of the doctrine is contingent upon India's continued pursuit of high economic growth within the framework of an open and increasingly globalized economy.
