This paper on US foreign policy first puts Barack Obama's conceptual framework in historical context and then discusses his foreign policy team. The author further examines foreign policy issues of relevance to trans-Atlantic security, including Afghanistan, Russia, Iraq, Iran, nuclear proliferation and disarmament and NATO as well as the Arab-Israeli conflict. In his concluding remarks, he expects Obama to pursue a foreign policy of liberal internationalism.
