This paper contends that the US needs to develop a more effective strategy to cope with the economic disorder that’s spreading across the globe. The strategy should enable America to “shape, steer, and sustain” a new order that rests on six pillars – 1) regional partnerships; 2) bilateral economic relations with pivotal states; 3) “urban statecraft”; 4) entrepreneurship and innovation; 5) leveraging the US energy boom; and 6) expanding and securing the Internet.
