This paper analyzes the impact of the new media on Arab politics and society, focusing on the ways in which the internet and satellite television are magnifying each other's power. It also examines how Arab regimes are attempting to resist the new media's assault on their power and authority, while at the same time harnessing its power to develop their national economy. The author finds that these media channels have introduced remarkable change to the dynamic of Arab politics, stimulating a degree of citizen participation in politically moribund, autocratic states.
