This report examines the influence “positive peace” –referring to attitudes, institutions and structures that create and sustain peaceful societies– has in establishing environments that maximize human potential. After explaining in more detail what positive peace consists of, the text provides an overview of the findings and trends that emerge from this year’s positive peace index, which measures 163 countries. The report goes on to look at 1) positive peace’s relationship with economic growth and resilience; 2) the relationship between positive peace in a country and transitions in peace and violence, and 3) case studies on how countries can increase positive peace.
