This paper discusses the bilateral relations between China and Pakistan. It argues that although the military-strategic relationship is in good shape, the economic dimension, however, is not. The author further examines the economic aspect of the China-Pakistan relationship, both in the historical and the present context and states the reasons for this low-key relationship. It concludes that despite the low trade volume, relations are still solid because Pakistan is very significant to China and military strategic relations are further improving in the wake of the Indo–US nuclear deal.
