This paper discusses security policy proposals put forward by the US Democratic Party in response to the actions of the Bush administration. It also compares the proposals of Democratic-leaning think tanks and outlines common themes. The author argues that a Democratic security policy should broaden the definition of security to include protection from threats to human life, with the military as one of many tools available.
