This publication assesses how the Indian government has tackled nationalist aspirations in Nagaland through the use of the Armed Forces Special Power Act. The first section provides background on Nagaland and the imposition of the act. The second section looks at the precursors to the act as well as the act itself. The next section considers some of the impacts and the fourth section focuses on the review of the act to finally propose some recommendations for improving it.
