Publication

This publication summarizes the speech NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer held on 26 January 2009 in Brussels and places it in an international political context. In this speech the secretary-general set out his vision for the future of NATO and trans-Atlantic relations before an audience of 170 policymakers, industry experts, academics and journalists. The publication also includes comments made in the questions and answers session on the need for more resources, Afghanistan, Russia, energy security, NATO's enlargement and the EU-NATO relationship.
