This US Department of Defense report includes a description of the comprehensive strategy of the US for security and stability in Afghanistan. The information contained in this report is current as of 29 August 2008. It states that the US continues to pursue a comprehensive counterinsurgency (COIN) campaign which utilizes the military, government and economic expertise of the US and the international community to diminish insurgent capacity, maintain security and build the infrastructure and human capital necessary to achieve the Afghanistan envisioned in the strategic goals listed above.
