Jan 2009

The January 2009 issue of Comparative Connections focuses on the important developments in the region, against the background of the global financial crisis. Each chapter examines a bilateral relationship in greater detail, with a special focus on the trends and initiatives shaping the state of bilateral and broader regional relations and stability. Prominent issues include the Six-Party Talks being hindered by North Korea's obtuse behavior, demonstrations in Thailand disrupting the planned ASEAN summit, the arrival of a new US administration and growing concern over regional economic stability.
