This commentary addresses Singapore's decision to send a landing ship tank for anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden under the US-led Combined Task Force 151. The author argues that this decision reveals pragmatics at the strategic, operational and tactical levels. The commentary also suggests that the decision signals a shift in strategic thinking to contribute to global security.
