This publication addresses poverty reduction strategies and argues that these require a shift in focus from isolated project to market-based approaches. The authors explain that value chain analysis helps diagnose pro-poor impacts in supply chains and identify the best interventions. They conclude that a value chain approach in tourism helps to explain why the poor receive a bigger share of tourism in some destinations than in others.
