This publication focuses on the important developments in the Asia-Pacific region. Each chapter examines a bilateral relationship in greater detail, with a special focus on the trends and initiatives shaping the state of bilateral and broader regional relations and stability. Prominent issues include the reaction to Cyclone Nargis that devastated Myanmar and the resumption of numerous bilateral talks after varying periods of inaction. Also discussed are South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo plummeting approval ratings, which have led to speculation over their ability to actually implement agreements.
